There's a great variety of movie theatres in Berlin.. There are multiplex cinemas, traditional and smaller cinemas and art-house theatres which offer a special program along with the blockbusters. Extraordinary retrospectives and rare cinema screenings like silent movies or films from around the world are presented here. In many cinemas, movies can be seen also in the original language version (In Germany movies are normalled screened in a dubbed version). And the Imax movie theatre shows films in a 3D-format.

And action: that's what you can hear quite often on Berlin streets lately, because more and more films are produced in the capital. Since the motion pictures took its first steps, Berlin has been among the most important film cities, where masterworks were created. The Filmhouse on the Potsdamer Platz is a must for every cineast as the dffb, the German Film and Television Academy Berlin, is based here. Further, there is the Filmmuseum Berlin which is well worth seeing with its valuable collection of the German film history and an exhibition of some interesting pieces of Marlene Dietrich's legacy. In the basement you find the cinema "Arsenal", and with the CineStar and the IMAX-movie theatre on Potsdamer Platz, two other cinemas are nearby.
